MOTEC REGISTERED
UNTITLED WHITE LABEL
Intrauterin/UK/7"
A quirk in my personality has made it hard for me to deal with 7" singles, regardless of their quality. An early Dan Curtin 7" on his Metamorphic label-on red vinyl, no less-and a limited edition 7" from Detroit's Doppler Effekt both got traded away years back in an anti-7" fury, actions which I've come to regret. My problem? Well, as a listener, I have no problems with the format, but as a DJ I prefer 12"s of vinyl on my 'tables. Put simply, 7"s sound quieter, weigh less, and are harder to handle because of their size; and when you're in the mix, 12"s are just much easier to deal with, especially considering their run off matrixes leave lots of room for your fingers when scratching or riding the groove. This untitled white label 7" appears to be the first release on the British Intrauterin label. Assuming "Motec Registered" stamped on the sleeve refers to the name of the group, this is quality gear. Both cuts are downtempo with the A more of a mid-era Speedy J-style chill piece, whereas the B is an airy electro number with a healthy kick and a bit of oomph to it. I'll aim to override my tendencies and keep this is the crate, as it is quite pleasing to the ear.
